INA DIRECTOR GENERAL PRESENTS COMPANY REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

ZAGREB, Mar 2 (Hina) - The new director general of Croatia's national oil company INA, Tomislav Dragicevic, on Thursday presented his work programme at a press conference in Zagreb. The programme consists of activities aimed at stopping the financial collapse of and rehabilitating INA, and envisages preparations for privatising the company. Some programme measures include a free setting of prices of oil derivatives on the domestic market, higher gas prices for major users, and a more successful collection of outstanding debts. Asked when and how much the prices of oil derivatives would rise, Dragicevic said INA's demand for higher prices was being considered in the competent ministry. It is estimated INA finished last year's business with a loss exceeding 1.3 billion kuna (US$170 million), Dragicevic said, but reminded the financial reports were not complete yet and the finance balance
It is estimated INA finished last year's business with a loss exceeding 1.3 billion kuna (US$170 million), Dragicevic said, but reminded the financial reports were not complete yet and the finance balance was yet to be seen. The new director general asserted INA was brought into the present difficult situation, with great losses and huge unpaid debts, in great part thanks to the previous government which he said attempted to maintain the illusion of a successful economy by sacrificing the national oil company. Dragicevic also commented on INA's high debts to big state-owned companies. "We will settle all of INA's former debts through the government and competent ministries, but all product delivered as of now will have to be paid within deadlines, otherwise we will be diminishing deliveries to non-payers," he said. INA will attempt to increase its retail and export, especially to neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia where the company has more than 70 retail outlets. (hina) ha jn
