ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - The Republic Trade Union of Croatian Post and Telecommunications Workers on Thursday demanded that the Croatian Post (HP) board of directors resign at once. In the contrary, the union will demand that HP's
owner, the Croatian government, replace the board. According to today's statement, the union throughout last year urged the HP board of directors to fulfil its obligations to the workers and comply with the Labour Act and the Post and Telecommunications Branch Work Agreement. The union believes the HP board of directors is not respecting its 10 December 1999 signature on Pension Council minutes. The signature helped cancel a general strike in the HP, which had been announced for 15 December 1999. ZAGREB, Feb 24 (Hina) - The Republic Trade Union of Croatian Post
and Telecommunications Workers on Thursday demanded that the
Croatian Post (HP) board of directors resign at once. In the
contrary, the union will demand that HP's owner, the Croatian
government, replace the board.
According to today's statement, the union throughout last year
urged the HP board of directors to fulfil its obligations to the
workers and comply with the Labour Act and the Post and
Telecommunications Branch Work Agreement.
The union believes the HP board of directors is not respecting its
10 December 1999 signature on Pension Council minutes. The
signature helped cancel a general strike in the HP, which had been
announced for 15 December 1999.
The said minutes bound the HP board of directors to resolve within
defined deadlines certain issues from the branch work agreement. By
failing to comply with its obligations, the board is deliberately
asking for a continuation of the strike, the union said in the
statement, adding the strike would take place unless its demands
were met.
