Prior to the concert of the Ukrainian Symphony Orchestra on the
island of Brijuni, Mesic confirmed that his talks with the Istrian
Democratic Assembly (IDS) leader, Ivan Jakovcic, earlier in the
day, were the beginning of consultations on the new prime minister
designate.
Mesic said he would appoint the new prime minister designate on
Wednesday, and the time term for the appointment would not be
prolonged.
"We must respect the balance of power in the parliament, and we can
do it only through consultations," Croatian head of state said.
Before the ceremonial opening of the festival, President Mesic and
his wife held a dinner in honour of their guests, Bulgarian
President and his wife.
