The majority of MP's, amongst whom were members from the HSS and
HSLS on Thursday voted against changes to a Law on Islands by which
the Government proposed introducing a bridge toll for the Krk
bridge for legal entities based on that island. The same day SDP
MP's called for a press conference and announced that they would
seek a rebalance of the state budget, as well as an explanation for
the emergence of a new coalition in the parliament or an early
election even.
SDP claims are absurd and unfounded, HSS bench leader Luka Trconic
said at a press conference on Friday.
The HSS is quite surprised with such a reaction by the SDP seeing
that this is not the first time this sort of situation (the vote) has
occurred in the parliament. SDP's reaction and heightening tension
to that level is odd, Trconic said.
He was particularly surprised, he said, at the threat of an early
election.
He added that keeping in mind serious analysis, HSS certainly had
something to fear from an early election.
He reminded that in some situations SDP 'assisted' in bringing down
some of the government's proposals in the parliament. He stressed
that the HSS was certainly interested in preserving the coalition
and fulfilling at least a part of their per-election promises.
