"Differences have always existed and will exist," Racan said in a
Croatian Television broadcast.
He said that it was important to differentiate between logical
differences which did not endanger the course of reforms and
problems which caused disputes and could lead to the break-up of the
coalition.
"It is important to establish that difference together and not
allow conflicts threaten Croatia's strategic interests," he said.
He confirmed that the leaders of five parties of the ruling
coalition would meet on Saturday, June 22.
"The ruling coalition must be able to sit at the table on Saturday
and discuss how to prevent sporadic conflicts from turning into an
all-out argument," Racan said. He stressed that at Saturday's
meeting the coalition would also have to decide when the next
election would be held.
"If it is to be held at the end of the mandate, as it should... one
should wait with the election campaigning,... roll up sleeves and
work," Racan said, adding it remained to be seen if all parties
could accept those conditions.
He stressed that he was not in favour of an early election, adding
that the coalition and its government had to and could fulfil many
of its promises.
"If despite everything that should not be possible..., we will have
to call an election, but I do not support it," Racan said.
