The memorial plaque to anti-fascist writers killed in WWII was
removed from DHK premises following a 1994 decision of its steering
committee. It was replaced the same year with one bearing Petar
Preradovic's lyrics commemorating all killed Croatian writers.
"The Society is not a one-party orientation but a society of all who
created literature and deserved our posthumous homage on that
plaque. We have concluded that it is best for now, until we know all
the names, to leave the plaque on which we pay respect to all the
victims," Mihalic said.
He was re-elected DHK president last week. He announced changes to
the DHK Statute and the strengthening of the Society's branches.
Mihalic told Hina he would try to establish contact with publishers
abroad, and have books published in Croatian be translated in other
languages as well.
