ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - The first day of a strike in secondary schools and dormitories saw about 70 percent of secondary school teachers participating. The strike will continue until teachers' demands are met, unions claimed on
Monday.
ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - The first day of a strike in secondary
schools and dormitories saw about 70 percent of secondary school
teachers participating. The strike will continue until teachers'
demands are met, unions claimed on Monday.#L#
During the strike which continued from eight until 3 p.m., 14,000 of
a total of 20,000 employees in secondary schools, did not work,
Andrija Puljevic, president of the Independent Union of Employees
in Secondary Schools told Hina.
According to claims by the Ministry of Education and Sports, about
55.4 percent of secondary school institutions were totally or
partially on strike.
Puljevic said that he would give full details of the number of
strikers at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday.
The Independent Union is demanding the signing of a branch
collective agreement which would regulate the right to holiday
bonus, Christmas bonus, gifts for children andwage supplements.
The organiser of Monday's strike - the Independent Union and the
Ministry of Education announced that on Tuesday they would release
information about the number of persons participating in the strike
secondary schools.
