Based on a sample of 211 secondary schools and dorms in 16 counties,
the Ministry has established that 50 percent of all teachers are
striking, 45 percent is working, while five percent is justifiably
absent, Strugar told reporters.
According to Strugar, 41.2 percent of schools are working normally,
29.9 percent are on strike, and 28.9 percent are working part-
time.
We want to remove any doubt that the Ministry is rigging data, so the
executive director of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human
Rights (HHO), Tin Gazivoda, is checking them, Strugar added.
Strugar said that he wanted to negotiate with the Independent Union
of Secondary School Employees, which today started a strike
demanding that the branch collective agreement be signed
urgently.
Strugar called on pupils and teachers to come to schools tomorrow.
