ZAGREB, April 17 (Hina) - At the request of the County State
Prosecutor's Offices in Bjelovar and Zagreb to start criminal
proceedings against Croatian Democratic Union representatives
(HDZ) Djuro Decak and Ljubo Cesic Rojs, the Croatian parliament on
Wednesday passed a decision on stripping the two MPs of immunity by
a majority vote.#L#
The reason for starting criminal proceedings against Decak and
Cesic is a founded suspicion that the two MPs abused the position
and powers in payment and economic transactions.
Before voting on stripping the two MPs of immunity, the parliament
voted on amendments to the parliament rule book. The parliament
dropped a proposal according to which the two-thirds majority would
be necessary to strip MPs of immunity.
After adopting amendment to the rule book, MPs will have one minute
each to comment on the amendments after a government member answers
a question asked by MPs.
The Croatian parliament on Wednesday morning supported bills of
amendments to the Penal Code and a bill on strategic commodity
stockpiles.
