ZAGREB, Nov 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Railways (HZ) company has been
admitted into the Community of European Railways (CER), which
gathers 32 rail companies from European Union member-states,
Norway, Switzerland, and ten central and eastern European
countries, which are candidates for EU membership. #L#
The CER general assembly, which met in Brussels in late October,
decided to accept two new members - the Czech company for railway
infrastructure (SZDC) and the HZ, the Croatian company reported on
Wednesday. #L#
The HZ's membership in the CER is seen as recognition of the overall
performance of the company and the country, as it has not been the
practice so far to accept a railway company from a country which is
neither EU member nor an official candidate for the EU membership.
