Debating a government draft programme for the financing and
management of local railways and a Croatian Railways business plan
for the 2003-7 period, the benches criticised the government's
intention to put local railways out of the government's charge.
Most MPs believe local governments do not have enough money to
maintain said railways.
The Social Democratic Party bench said parliament should have the
final say as to the cancellation of local railways, but that
counties should assume responsibility to establish which local
railways are "vitally important" because there was not enough money
in the state budget.
