These benefits are provided for in bills of amendments to the Profit
Tax Law and the Income Tax Law which government sent into
parliamentary procedure.
Under the amendments, paying profit tax would not be compulsory for
legal persons registered as engaged in research and development, as
well as for all independent units, such as research and development
institutes within certain companies.
The bills also encourage cooperation between the economy and
scientific-research bodies, so the tax benefits would also refer to
the costs companies incur in cooperating with scientific
institutes and the like.
The tax base would be reduced for the costs of staff training and
upgrading, as well as for investments in tangible and intangible
property (patents, licences) used for research.
