ZAGREB, May 7 (Hina) - Retail prices in Croatia in April were down 0.4 percent from March, while the costs of living went up 0.2 percent, the Central Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday.

In this year's first four months, retail prices grew by an average
0.521 percent or 2.1 percent for all four months.
Compared to March, the prices of goods in April dropped by 0.6
percent, while those of services were up 0.2 percent.
Changes in the retail prices of industrial products, which in April
were 0.7 percent lower than in March, affected the general trend of
retail prices.
The retail prices of goods in April were 0.2 percent higher than in
March, mainly due to a 0.8 percent increase in transportation
prices.
The prices of services in education, culture, entertainment,
finances, post and telecommunications, health, and administration
remained on the March level. The prices of crafts and welfare
services dropped by 0.2 percent and those of utility services by 0.1
percent.
Within the framework of the costs of living, April's prices of goods
were 0.2 percent higher than in March, while those of services
stayed the same.
In this year's first four months, living costs increased by an
average 0.57 percent or 1.3 percent for all four months. This April
they were 1.1 percent higher than in April 2002.
