BELGRADE/ZAGREB, March 15 (Hina) - Competent Serbian authorities
on Friday night continued tearing down the building one of the
leaders of the "Zemun mobster clan", Dusan Spasojevic Siptar,
suspected of the assassination of Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic,
had used as a headquarters, Radio B92 reported. #L#
The pulling down of the building started yesterday.
Serbian Interior Minister Dusan Mihajlovic told the TV station
Studio B yesterday the police knew who had ordered and carried out
Djindjic's murder.
"The evidence and statements by those who have been arrested
confirm what other members of the criminal organisation said,"
Mihajlovic said. He added that the arrest of those who had ordered
and carried out the assassination was a "technical matter" because
the "whole world" had offered all necessary assistance to the
Serbian police.
The Serbian government stated last night that the police had
arrested 136 persons and that one of them requested to be included
in the witness protection programme and started giving a statement
to the prosecutors.
Of those arrested, 125 will remain in custody for 30 days. A total of
181 people have been arrested since a state of emergency was imposed
on Wednesday, the government stated.
The police also found a number of unregistered cars, a large
quantity of drugs and several stolen cars during the arrests.
Evidence materials discovered during the arrests confirm the
existence of a criminal organisation, the government said.
The Serbian interior ministry reported that several people linked
to the assassination had been arrested thanks to information
provided by citizens.
The police have called on citizens to report any information that
may be linked to the whereabouts or movement of the leaders of the
Zemun Clan, including Milorad Lukovic Legija, Dusan Spasojevic
Siptar, Vladimir Milisavljevic "Fool" and Mile Lukovic
"Godfather".
