Interior Ministry spokeswoman Zinka Bardic said the police had
arrested five Croatian and one German citizen, who had been taken to
the investigative centre of the Zagreb County Court. Two persons, a
German and a Bosnian citizen, who are believed to have organised the
group of smugglers, are on the run and an international warrant has
been issued for their arrest, Bardic said.
Apart from smuggling tobacco, the group is believed to have
smuggled people from former Yugoslav countries to West Europe.
The smugglers were arrested while trying to smuggle 310,000 euros
worth of tobacco from Bosnia into Croatia.
