SPH president Dubravko Jagic told reporters the extent of violence
against police in the past few years had become alarming, but this
had not urged anybody to do something to protect officers and punish
the perpetrators adequately.
In the past ten years, 18 police officers were killed in the line of
duty, not counting military operations.
According to interior ministry data, last year saw 261 assaults on
police, which was a 20% increase in comparison to the previous
year.
During these attacks, ten officers were gravely and 187 lightly
injured.
