Most party benches yesterday agreed Croatia needed a permanent
electoral model and that there was no time for the passing of a new
law at present so the existing one had to be changed.
Most MPs stressed that elections should be held according to the
same electoral law at least twice in a row to maintain the political
and democratic stability of the country.
The parliament, however, forwarded into the second reading draft
electoral laws put forward by the Croatian Peasant Party and the
Social Democrats, and dismissed those proposed by the Democratic
Centre and MPs Zlatko Kramaric (Liberal Party) and Damir Kajin
(Istrian Democratic Assembly).
