ZAGREB, March 13 (Hina) - At the start of a parliament sitting on
Thursday, Marin Jurjevic of the Social Democratic Party demanded of
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president to voice its opinion on
his alleged statement that "(premier) Racan, (parliament head)
Tomcic, and (Croatian People's Party president) Pusic and other
traitors can pack their suitcases". #L#
Jurjevic mentioned Sanader's statement which was cited by the media
after the HDZ's victory at the local election in Virovitica.
The SDP MP said it was impermissible that the premier and parliament
head be called to account in that way. Jurjevic was interrupted by
parliament head Tomcic at the moment the MP has stressed that "this
is a call for violence" and that he did not "want to allude to the
events in the neighbourhood".
Tomcic gave the floor to Sanader who said he did not make such
statements and on behalf of the HDZ bench requested a break. Other
benches also called for the break.
Upon returning to the parliament hall, Sanader reiterated he did
not say "what the media wrote" and stressed that on behalf of his
party he called for tolerance.
The HDZ president told Jurjevic it was impermissable that he linked
his alleged statement with yesterday's appalling assassination of
the Serbian Prime Minister.
Parliament resumed its session with a debate on HDZ's amendments to
the final bill on state support.
