PODGORICA, March 6 (Hina) - The Montenegrin ministers of interior affairs and justice have denied statements of the UN war crimes tribunal's Chief Prosecutor that the most wanted ICTY indictee, Radovan Karadzic, is staying in Montenegro. #L# During her visit to Brussels on Thursday where she met EU officials, Carla del Ponte said she had reliable information that Bosnian Serb war-time leader Karadzic was shuttling between the Bosnian Serb areas and Montenegro and that he was from time to time staying in the Orthodox monastery "Ostrog" near the Montenegrin city of Niksic. The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), added that the it was necessary to show political will to nab Karadzic and that she had recently told this to Montenegrin Premier Milo Djukanovic. Interior Minister Milan Filipovic said on Thursday evening that his ministry had no information that Karadzic was residing in Montenegro. The minister was quoted by the national television as saying that he was surprised at the chief prosecutor's assertion, given that he had no indications about Karadzic's whereabouts in Montenegro. "We shall certainly pay attention to and take all the necessary measures so as to check del Ponte's statements," Filipovic added. Justice Minister Zeljko Sturanovic also denied her statements.
