On 2 October the war-time Bosnian Serb leader Plavsic pleaded
guilty for the persecution of non-Serb population in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, and she was thus charged with the crimes against
humanity. In return, the ICTY prosecution announced it would drop
other counts in her indictment, including the genocide count.
The prosecution, however, asked for a sentence of the 25-year-long
imprisonment for this indictee who was the first to enter a plea via
the video link, staying outside The Hague.
Plavsic's lawyers asked for the sentence no higher than eight years
in prison.
