ZAGREB, Feb 25 (Hina) - A tripartite working group met at the
Croatian government's Social Partnership Office on Tuesday to
discuss 12 contentious questions from a bill on changes to the
Labour Act. #L#
The working group agreed on those questions in May last year,
however, the unions claim the government has failed to integrate
them in the bill adequately.
It was agreed at today's meeting that most proposals should be
included in the bill and its by-laws as well as into other bills
regarding the system of social security as they are drawn up, the
Office stated.
The tripartite working group, which includes representatives of
the government, employers and unions, will continue with the
meeting in several days in order to discuss other contentious
issues and reach agreement on compensation, the Office said.
The leader of the Independent Croatian Unions, Kresimir Sever, said
after the meeting that "the vast majority of proposals are
acceptable to the sponsor, but several more issues need to be agreed
on".
Those also include a regulation on temporary work contracts.
The group today also did not discuss severance pays and dismissal
notices because those issues are in principle more difficult and
the sponsor needs more time for them, Sever said.
