Tomcic told reporters that before making any final decision on
Croatia's position regarding the Iraqi crisis, parliament should
voice its opinion and adopt a decision.
After the discussion, Tomcic says, a parliamentary session should
be held at which MPs will be entirely acquainted with government
moves so that they can actively participate in decision making.
Commenting on a reporter's question whether he believed that
signing the statement by the Vilnius Group member countries also
meant support to the United States in the war with Iraq, Tomcic said
the document had only one purpose -- that Croatia, along with the
other nine Vilnius Group member countries, specifically demanded
of the UN to put in function its mechanism in order to prevent the
production and misuse of arms for mass destruction.
The parliament president said the government would issue a
statement regarding the Iraqi crisis after tomorrow's session.
