HSS HOPES UNNECESSARY INCIDENT REGARDING SUNCANI HVAR ENDED TOMCIC

ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - The presidency of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) hopes that a government decision of Thursday to revoke the decision on the sale of the Suncani Hvar hotel chain to Slovenia's Terme Catez has put an end to an unnecessary incident which was detrimental to the reputation of the ruling coalition, the Croatian government and the entire Croatia, HSS president Zlatko Tomcic said on Thursday evening after the party presidency session.
#L# "The government's decision was adopted based on the analysis of a three-member commission, the facts were irrefutably established, which is why the HSS is surprised that concrete sanctions were not imposed against those who made concrete mistakes," Tomcic said. The HSS demanded resignations of the president of the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP), Kresimir Starcevic, and Tourism Minister Pave Zupan Ruskovic and the government on Thursday relieved of duty the HFP Steering Committee (comprising Slavko Linic, Mato Crkvenac, Ljubo Jurcic, Bozidar Pankretic and Pave Zupan Ruskovic) because of the mistakes in the deciding process and the bid for the sale of Suncani Hvar. Tomcic said his party would not set any conditions this time, given that "the Croatian public knows the truth on the Suncani Hvar case". The HSS president said this was the most serious crisis in relations of the two leading parties in the ruling coalition -- the HSS and the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Tomcic said his party wished to continue to participate in the work of the ruling coalition, but that it no longer wanted to solve problems by incidents. (hina) it
