The Serbian Assembly adopted the document last Monday.
In order to come into force, the Charter and implementing law must
be adopted by the parliaments of both republics, as well as the
Yugoslav parliament. There is not set date for the Federal
parliament's session.
Belgrade and Podgorica came to an agreement to reorganise the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on March 14, 2002 in Belgrade under
the auspices of the European Union. On the basis of that agreement,
Serbia and Montenegro have the right to secession after three
years.
