While the premier legal act of the new union is being discussed, the
Constitutional Commission should harmonise views on several other
contentious issues in connection with the law on the implementation
of the charter.
Representatives of Montenegro's opposition and Yugoslav President
Vojislav Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia did not attend
today's session.
Dragoljub Micunovic, president of the Yugoslav parliament's
Council of Citizens and member of the Constitutional Commission,
told journalists he was hopeful the law on the implementation of the
constitutional charter would be harmonised next week, when a
European Union delegation is slated to visit Belgrade to discuss
expediting the passing of the charter and of the law with senior
state representatives .
