ZAGREB, Jan 27 (Hina) - A former advisor and spokesman for the

Trkanjec claims that he agreed to return the debt to the ministry
"although the costs were incurred mostly while performing official
duties and in line with regulations effective at the time". #L#
Trkanjec claims that between 1996 and 2000, based on internal
regulations effective at the time, he was entitled to use the
ministry's official credit card and representational funds.
"I regularly forwarded my receipts to the ministry's accounting
service. Some of those receipts were not recognised as business
expenses by the service and were reported as debt to the ministry.
Upon termination of employment with the ministry, I accepted the
obligation to pay back the debt. I have not changed my decision in
the meantime, although the costs were mostly incurred while
performing official duties and in line with regulations effective
at the time," Trkanjec said.
