This year's event, held under the title "Competitors and Partners on the Road to the European Union", pooled 250 participants from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro and Slovenia.
Most addresses referred to possible economic cooperation between countries in the region, with speakers underlining the importance of incentives to the revival and promotion of economic cooperation on the road to the EU.
The pace of changes in the European Union imposes the need to establish good cooperation in infrastructure projects and adopt standards necessary for integration, said Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski, under whose auspices the event was held. The importance of this year's meeting is in the fact that now is the time for all citizens of south-east European countries to make their economic problems and economic cooperation their top priority and contribute to the common goal of integration with the EU, Crvenkovski said.
The seminar was also attended by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, who said, among other things, that the community of European countries primarily meant economic unity and that all countries had to adopt that model and regulate their economic relations according to it.
The Cavtat forum was organised by the Sarajevo-based "Revicon" company for research and development services and business consulting.
Macedonian President Crvenkovski today also visited Dubrovnik where he held talks with representatives of county and city authorities.
