The pilgrimage was organised by the Military Ordinariate, while the Eucharist was celebrated by Military Ordinary Monsignor Juraj Jezerinac. In attendance were guests from Hungary and France as well as Croatian Defence Minister Berislav Roncevic, Interior Minister Marijan Mlinaric, military Chief of Staff General Josip Lucic, and Police Chief Ivica Franic.
Roncevic and Mlinaric thanked the Military Ordinariate for organising the pilgrimage, which they said was very important for the spiritual life of military and police members.
In his sermon Monsignor Jezerinac spoke, among other things, about the importance of faith in European civilisation, and against abortion and same-sex unions.
Commenting on numerous pieces written about the Church, he said they were authored by people without faith and were frequently the cause of major misunderstandings.
Speaking of global events, Jezerinac said that "no global associations or pacts will save us," and that "our fate is in our own hands".
