Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova said today he was disappointed to see that Tadic abused hospitality which the UN mission in the area offered him. Rugova told the people of Kosovo that no statement from Belgrade would have any impact on the definition of the final status of Kosovo.
The speaker of the provincial parliament, Nexhat Daci, said that citizens of Kosovo, including minorities, knew that Kosovo was not and would never be a part of Serbia. He added that Serbia had lost its sovereignty over Kosovo in the war.
Tadic's statement in which he expressed his opposition to Kosovo's independence was described by Daci as a politically motivated act of marketing ahead of the coming elections in Serbia.
Kosovo government spokesman Arben Qirezi said that "regardless of what the Serbian president said, the only thing that is certain is that Kosovo will never be a part of Serbia".
