BRUSSELS, June 23 (Hina) - Croatian and Turkish EU entry
negotiators in Brussels on Friday took part in a meeting at which European
Commission representatives acquainted them with the Lisbon Strategy, which
defines goals based on which the European Union is expected to become the most
competitive knowledge-based economy. Croatia as a country which is
negotiating EU accession has no obligations regarding the Lisbon Strategy and
the EC organised the meeting to acquaint Croatian and Turkish negotiators with
the strategic document so that their countries could adapt their development
goals to the Strategy.
The Croatian delegation said the EC recommended that the post of
national coordinator for the implementation of the Lisbon Strategy be held by
the chief accession negotiator.
