SARAJEVO, March 29 (Hina) - Slobodan Milosevic (Serbian President)
recently requested direct talks with Bosnia-Herzegovina's
Government several times. Thus, we assessed that we should give him
a chance and see whether he was sincerely interested in peace,
Bosnian Ambassador to Switzerland, Muhamed Filipovic, said while
explaining why, on behalf of Bosnian President Izetbegovic, he had
conducted talks with Milosevic recently in Belgrade.
In an interview with an independent "Studio 99" television
station Filipovic said he had demanded from Milosevic last Tuesday
to recognize Bosnia unconditionally, as to show his readiness for
peace.
According to Filipovic the Belgrade meeting meant implicitly
Milosevic's recognition of Bosnia. Filipovic announced that new
possibilities for talks with Milosevic were likely to be created.
Filipovic held that Croatian reservations as regards this
meeting in Belgrade were groundless.
He told Bosnian Croats that the meeting was in their interest
as well as in the interest of Bosniacs (Moslems), since it was
primarily in the interest of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
