SARAJEVO, 15 Dec (Hina) - Serb requests for the Bosnian Presidency
to adopt an agreement on dual citizenship signed between Momcilo
Krajisnik and Yugoslav Foreign Minister Milan Milutinovic, before
the beginning of the parliamentary discussion on laws on
citizenship and passports, were unreasonable and unacceptable,
Deputy High Representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina Hans Schumacher,
told reporters in Sarajevo Monday.
Speaking to reporters following the delay of a Bosnian Parliament
session which was expected to result in the adoption of laws on
citizenship and passports, Schumacher threatened that the Office
of the High Representative would apply serious measures, following
wider powers given to him by last week's Bonn conference.
We will wait for the expiry of the deadline given to Serb Democratic
Party (SDS) representatives until tonight and then decide which
steps should be taken, on the basis of the Bonn document, Schumacher
said.
He warned that this time the High Representative would probably
have to declare that the laws have taken effect, should Serbs
continue to obstruct the work of parliament.
Late this afternoon, talks were held behind closed doors between
representatives of parliamentary benches.
According to unofficial information, there is a possibility that
parliament would still hold a session tonight after 7 pm.
