ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - A delegation of the Croatian Parliament House
of Representatives' Education, Science and Culture Committee
informed Tuesday's Committee session about their visit to schools
in the Croatian Danube river region on 1 December.
There is good cooperation between the Croatian education
authorities and the local community, deputy chairman of the
committee, Antun Vujic, said.
Recalling the most important problems mentioned in the talks in the
Danube river region, Vujic mentioned the issue of teachers' work
contracts, diploma ratifications and appointments of
headmasters.
The work done by the Education Ministry deserved the highest grade,
Djurdja Adlesic, said.
Education and Sports Minister Ljilja Vokic said that 1,353 teachers
in the Croatian Danube river region had signed work contracts so
far. Those who did not satisfy professional criteria or were not
citizens of Croatia could not sign work contracts, she added.
Regarding the appointment of headmasters, Vokic said 40% of them
were Serbs, 10% members of a minority and 50% Croats.
The reintegration of schools in the Danube river region is a lengthy
and demanding task, she stressed.
