OSIJEK, Feb 24 (Hina) - Borislav Garvanovic, a victim from a mass
grave of Ovcara near Vukovar, was buried with military honours at
the Osijek cemetery of St Ana on Monday. Garvanovic, a member of
the Croatian Army 204th brigade, was recently identified as one of
victims in the Ovcara mass grave.
At the Osijek central cemetery Darko Kisurek and Milan Gajcic,
members of the Croatian Army 130th brigade, and Mato Sklebek and
Stjepan Bartolovic, civil defence members, were also buried on
Monday. They went missing on October 6, 1991, at the Orlovnjak farm
near Osijek and their bodies were recently exhumed and identified.
During the funeral, the commander of the 130th brigade,
Lieutenant Colonel, Zivko Mijic, said that they had sacrificed
their lives for the homeland conscientiously performing their duty
and defending the Republic of Croatia.
Families, Osijek-Baranja County officials, HDZ party
representatives and Croatian Army officials attended the burial.
