According to the monastery's Guardian Fr. Perica Vidic, said that the
attackers could see light behind the window and knew that there were people
in the room.
The monastery and church of St Anthony were guarded by local police at
the time of the attack, but they could not identify the attackers.
The attack happened only two days after the same monastery and the
church, located in the old Sarajevo quarter of Bistrik, were stoned during a
mass.
On Friday, Guardian Vidic was visited by the Croatian Ambassador to
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Darinko Bago, Federation Deputy Interior Minister
Jozo Leutar and representatives of the Sarajevo municipal Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) council.
According to Ambassador Bago, last night's attack was an outrageous
act because its victims were Bosnian Franciscans - people who with all their
actions supported Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Deputy Interior Minister Leutar held talks with Interior Minister
Mehmed Zilic and they agreed that police should guard Catholic facilities 24
hours a day. Such a situation cannot be maintained for ever, nor can police
support be meaningful unless all people are guaranteed full safety, Leutar
said.
