ZAGREB, Feb 27 (Hina) - President of the Croatian Electoral
Commission Ivan Mrkonjic on Thursday received the
representatives of the Electoral Monitor Mission for Croatia
of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe,
Anders Eriksson and Renata Tardioli, the Croatian Electoral
Commission said in a statement.
Mrkonjic acquainted the two representatives with the laws
on the basis of which elections would be held in Croatia on 13
April 1997, as well as with obligatory instructions on their
holding. Mrkonjic explained the organization of electoral
commissions, the electoral system and the participation of
monitors and party representatives in the work of the
electoral commissions.
On behalf of all members of the mission and himself too,
Eriksson thanked Mrkonjic for his thorough report in relation
to electoral activities in Croatia. During the final days
preceding the elections, the number of monitors would rise to
about 200, Eriksson concluded.
