ZAGREB, Feb 17 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian
Government on Monday held talks in Zagreb with representatives
of UNTAES and the Serbs from the area under transitional
administration focusing on local elections to be held on 13
April.
The Croatian delegation was headed by vice-premier Ivica
Kostovic, the UNTAES delegation by transitional administrator
Jacques Klein and the Serb delegation by Vojislav
Stanimirovic, one of the local Serb leaders.
After the meeting, unattended by journalists, Klein said
the delegations met in order to discuss the general
circumstances in relation to the elections. The talks would
continue in the afternoon, after a meeting with Croatian
President Franjo Tudjman, Klein said.
Croatian Administration Minister Davorin Mlakar and
UNTAES Deputy Official in Charge of the Elections Alan Wall
told reporters that at today's meeting the Serbs stated their
proposals in relation to the organization of election units in
the Danubian area.
In answer to a question regarding procedures for
candidates running for elections, Mlakar said they would be
the same for all in Croatia.
