"Changes were minimal with everybody watching the exchange rates," said one trader. Another factor keeping business low key during the early part of the day was the release of USDA weekly export figures, but in the end these had little impact on the European market. "Weather may come into play again on Friday, but nothing other than the dollar has moved this market today," said one trader. Forecasts over the next six to ten day's are calling for below normal temperatures and normal or above normal rainfall in the Midwest. On the soft oil market only one trade was reported and prices were little changed. "Cancelled today, lack of interest," said one trader. Palm oil prices staged a small rally in Europe after Wednesday afternoon's sell off with the weakness of the Malaysian ringgit against the dollar the main supporting factor. "Palm oil should be more attractive to major buyers because of the lower ringgit, but whether they will take advantage of it or not remains to be seen," said one trader. At the close of business Dutch soy oil was 0.50 guilders up to 0.25 guilders down while rape oil sellers were unchanged to 0.25 guilders higher after tended Aug material traded at 103.25 and 103 guilders a 100 kilos. Crude palm oil closed $2.50 down while products were unchanged. Coconut failed to find any buyers and closed with offers unchanged to $7.50 up while palmkernel oil was $5 lower to $2.50 higher. Traders said coconut appeared to have found it's level for now. "Coconut oil can't go much lower because all the time it is closing the gap on palm oil," said one trader.
