ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - Today's issue of the Zagreb daily VJESNIK
on the front page brings coverage of Assumption celebrations
throughout Croatia and a report from Pittsburgh, where Zagreb
Archbishop Cardinal Franjo Kuharic celebrated holy mass to mark
the 100th anniversary of St Nicholas' Church.
"Displaced persons to lift UNPROFOR blockade" says the
headline of an article on decision of the Croatian displaced
persons to end blockade of UN traffic at checkpoints in Nemetin,
Mirkovci, Lipovac, Ribnik, Jasenice, Pakovo Selo and Potravlje on
August 16 and hand them over to Croatian police.
Another Zagreb daily newespaper, VECERNJI LIST, also focused
on yesterday's celebrations of the Catholic festival of
Assumption.
The paper writes about a decision of Croatian displaced
persons to end the blockade of UN crossing points into the Serb-
held UN-protected areas, in an article headlined "End of blockade
- beginning of return?" "The Croatian government and displaced
persons expect that UNPROFOR will work out a pilot program of
return of the displaced to at least those place in 'blue zones'
proposed by county heads, and results are expected by September
15," says Vecernji List.
"Why lie about Tudjman's illness" is the headline of an
article on speculations in Belgrade, carried by Slovene media,
that President Tudjman's health was in a critical condition.
