ZAGREB, Aug 5 (Hina) - Things are back to normal in Pakrac after
the last night's incident when two Argentinean U.N. armoured
vehicles rushed a blockade manned by Croatia's displaced persons in
front of the U.N. checkpoint, U.N. Sector West, as the Croatian
Interior Ministry reported on Friday afternoon.
The U.N. senior officers visited the Pakrac police station
and displaced persons, and expressed regrets at the last night's
incident. The. U.N. Protection Force (UNPROFOR) representatives
also promised that such events should not happen again. They
stressed that UNPROFOR's intention had been to protect both the
displaced persons and its own soldiers since at the time Serbs had
been opening fire from their positions in the occupied area.
One of the U.N. armoured vehicles returned to Pakrac, whereas
the other transporting vehicle remained at UNPROFOR's position at
the disengagement line, according to the Croatian Interior Ministry
statement.
