ZAGREB, Feb 4 (Hina) - The Zagreb Archbishop, Cardinal Franjo
Kuharic, Saturday received Croatian Prime Minister Nikica Valentic
and Zagreb Mayor Branko Miksa, the IKA Catholic News Agency
reported.
Cardinal Kuharic, Prime Minister Valentic and Mayor Miksa
discussed social welfare, problems of displaced people and
refugees, humanitarian activities and the opening of soup-kitchens.
Prime Minister Valentic was interested in the problems the
Roman Catholic Church encountered, and possibilities of the
Government's assistance to the Church in solving them.
Valentic said the Government would allocate 400,000 kunas to
the reconstruction of the Zagreb Cathedral, one of well-known
landmarks and historical monuments in the Croatian capital.
Miksa added that the Zagreb city would give another 200,000
kunas for this purpose.
He informed Cardinal Kuharic of the construction of several
church facilities subsidized by the city.
Miksa spoke of the question where the Zagreb Archdiocese's
treasure could be suitably maintained.
Cardinal Kuharic was interested in the question whether the
Zagreb city was preparing adequate programmes for the city's youth.
