SARAJEVO, Feb 1 (Hina) - Despite no agreement between Bosnian
Government's officials and Bosnian Serbs on reopening the 'blue
roads' to Sarajevo, UN Protection Force officials said the road
across Mount Igman and Sarajevo Airport would be open to traffic
Wednesday.
The newly-appointed chief of UNPROFOR civilian affairs in
Sarajevo, Enrique Aguilar, said today that the road which links the
Sarajevo suburb Dobrinja to Butmir would be reopened from 01:00
p.m. Wednesday to convoys of six UN humanitarian agencies, the
International Red Cross and the Office of UN special envoy for
Sarajevo, William Eagleton.
Uglier described yesterday's talks between Bosnian Government
officials and self-styled Serb authorities as a flop but he said he
still believed that some progress had been made. The talks were to
continue.
Aguilar confirmed that Serbs had insisted on half of all
contents in cargoes transported by humanitarian convoys 'in
exchange' for them clearing free traffic along the blue routes.
As long as there was no agreement on the free movement of
convoys organized by non-governmental relief agencies, civilians
were unlikely to be allowed to travel into or out of Sarajevo.
