HOUSTON, Jan 28 (Hina) - Several thousand candle-carrying marchers
gathered Friday, the 1000th day of the siege of Sarajevo, in front
of a monument to Sam Houston, the founder of the State of Texas.
"It is ironic that we are remembering Holocaust victims this
week ... Sarajevo is the biggest ghetto in Europe," Martin Hrgovcic
from the Croatian-American Association said.
The marchers protested the inefficiency of the international
community in curbing the Serb aggression and urged the Congress to
lift the Bosnia arms embargo.
They also called on the international community to apply the
Genocide Convention, which provides for UN intervention in cases of
genocide.
