ZAGREB, Jan 27 (Hina) - UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros Ghali
today expressed his deepest sympathies for citizens of Sarajevo on
the 1000th day of city's siege.
He personally, and the UN, were committed to continuing their
efforts to ease living conditions in Bosnia and to find a peaceful
solution to problems in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ghali said in a
statement released today in Geneva.
Ghali said that the UN and its humanitarian organizations had
saved thousands of lives in Bosnia and its capital.
Ghali paid homeage to the citizens of Sarajevo who had
suffered and died during the 1000-day-siege, and he stressed that
the UN was determined to ensure conditions for peace in the next
1000 days in Sarajevo.
