SIBENIK, Jan 3 (Hina) - Representatives from Croatian Authorities
today met UNPROFOR officials in Sibenik to discuss the
environmental accident 12 days ago in the occupied part of the
Sibenik county, near the Bribirske Mostine, when oil leaked from an
UNPROFOR tank.
UNPROFOR commander in Croatia, general Ghazi Tayyeb, said
after the meeting that 26,000 litres spilled from the tank, not
34,000 and that pollution had stretched to the centre of the
Bribisnica Creek. He added that cooperation in a clean up operation
was discussed with the Croatian officials.
'Krka' National Park director, Gorana Deljac-Stipanicev said
UNPROFOR officials from Sibenik would be given equipment to clean
up the environmental mess and remove polluted soil to a waste
depot.
