SARAJEVO, 11 Sept (Hina) - General John Shalikashvili, head of the

At a press conference held after his meeting with IFOR chief
commander, Admiral Joseph Lopez and General Michael Walker, IFOR
ground force commander, Shalikashvili said he visited Bosnia to see
for himself that adequate estimations had been made and that
everything necessary had been done.
He did not want to say in what form the international
community would be present in Bosnia after the expiry of the IFOR
mandate on 20 December.
"The most important thing at this moment is to hold the
elections and secure the implementation of their results. Only
after that should the international community, that is, its
political leaders, decide whether they want to keep their military
presence in Bosnia-Herzegovina', Shalikashvili said.
Shalikashvili added that discussions on further engagement in
Bosnia could be expected at the end of September when NATO defence
ministers would meet in Bergen, Norway.
