KARADZIC DISPLAYED ON ELECTION POSTERS IN ZVORNIK

SARAJEVO, Aug 19 (Hina) - Michael McLay, a spokesman for the office of international peace coordinator Carl Bildt, said in Sarajevo on Monday that Serb authorities in the eastern town of Zvornik were ordered to remove all election posters showing Radovan Karadzic by the end of the day. The posters had been displayed by the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) in violation of an agreement under which Karadzic, wanted by the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague, had had to withdraw from public and political life. UN spokesman Alexander Ivanko said that there were increasing reports of representatives of opposition parties in both entities being intimidated. Ivanko said that the international police had been informed that local Moslem police in western Bosnia were arresting and interrogating supporters of opposition parties, particularly that of Fikret Abdic. The international police were investigating reports of two allegedly politically motivated bombing attacks in the Bihac area. (hina) vm mm 191442 MET aug 96
