SARAJEVO, August 6 (Hina) - Every military activity, including
exercises, of units of the Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the
Croatian Defense Council around Mostar were prohibited in order to
diminish tension in the area and contribute to a political solution
of the current crisis, spokesman for the NATO-led Peace
Implementation Force (IFOR) in Sarajevo Bratt Boudreau said on
Tuesday.
The situation in Mostar was peaceful, Boudreau said, but
warned about several armed incidents which had occurred in the city
last night. Small-arms fire was opened at a joint police patrol
around 9 p.m. and IFOR representatives ascertained the perpetrators
were three members of the Bosnian Army, who were arrested and
delivered to the Bosnian Army military police. Two hours later fire
was opened at the eastern part of the city from the west bank of
the Neretva river, but the perpetrators had not been discovered.
Several explosions also took place in the centre of the city
during the night. The perpetrators have not been discovered.
After these incidents IFOR strengthened its patrolling in
Mostar.
