SARAJEVO, Aug 2 (Hina) - The last diplomatic initiative by the U.S.
for resolving open issues concerning the Bosnian Federation could
significantly contribute to the improvement of relations between
Bosnia and Croatia, president of the Party for Bosnia Haris
Silajdzic said in Sarajevo on Friday. #L#
He stressed that President Tudjman's visit to Washington could
bring about an initiative for the establishment of relations
between Zagreb and Sarajevo on legal bases which include full
respect of sovereignty of both countries.
Silajdzic warned that the international community had taken
long to realize that decisive measures needed to be taken to
organize relations in the Federation in line with the Dayton peace
accords, which included the abolition of Herzeg Bosnia and an
efficient protection of Bosnia's outer border.
IFOR troops should be placed on the Bosnian border before the
elections so that the framework of the country could be maintained,
Silajdzic said.
