The council of first instance unanimously confirmed all six
items of the indictment against Mile Mrksic, Miroslav Radic and
Veselin Sljivancanin and issued an international warrant which will
be sent to all countries and, if necessary, to the international
Implementation Force (IFOR).
The Council also criticized the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
for failure to cooperate with ICTY. The Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia refused to implement orders for the arrest of the three
officers. ICTY President Antonio Cassese would inform the U.N.
Security Council of this, the Council said.
The main item of the indictment refers to the abduction of 261
persons from Vukovar hospital to a farm in Ovcara near Vukovar,
where they were all killed and buried in a mass grave. The
execution of patients from Vukovar hospital took place on 20
November 1991, two days after the fall of Vukovar.
